A different approach to technology.
I've previously worked in technology companies, and that experience has shaped how I think about IT.
I'm not a fan of unnecessary complexity, expensive contracts or the idea that spending more money automatically means getting a better solution.
Practical over expensive
Technology should solve problems, make life easier and give people more control — not lock them into products and services they don't need.
Sometimes the best solution is a new piece of equipment or a paid service. Sometimes it's configuring what you already own, using free software or taking a simpler approach.
I'll always aim to find a sensible solution for the problem at hand, rather than recommending technology for its own sake.
Your technology, your choice
I'm particularly interested in open-source software, flexible systems and solutions that don't tie you unnecessarily to one company.
I believe people should understand the technology they rely on and have the freedom to make their own decisions about it.
The cloud isn't your only option
The cloud is just someone else's computer, usually in a data centre. It can be convenient, but it isn't always the only or best solution.
I'm interested in helping people take greater control of their technology, whether that means running services on their own hardware, keeping files stored locally or reducing reliance on subscriptions and third-party platforms.
Self-hosting isn't right for every situation, and it comes with its own responsibilities. But where it makes sense, it can offer greater control, flexibility and independence.
I believe people should have a genuine choice in how their technology works, rather than feeling that the cloud is their only option.
No unnecessary jargon
You shouldn't need to be a technical expert to get help with technology.
My aim is to explain things clearly, discuss the available options and help you decide what works best for you.
